What is LAABP?
Incorporated in 1972 and approved by the Los Angeles City Council as the official representative for City employees of African American heritage. The LAABP has always been in the forefront of the battle for equal employment within the City’s work force. In addition, the LAABP Board of Directors has been actively involved in many aspects of employment, especially in the area of affirmation action. Three members represent the Association on the City-wide Advisory Affirmation Action Committee (AAAC) and the President is a member of the Mayor’s Affirmation Action Task Force. This Association will continue to move forward and work diligently to bring about greater opportunities for “people of color” to enhance their careers, to pursue progressive achievement in City service through examination preparation and advances in technology and to increase the number of positions with ultimate responsibility at the management level.
